A Jackson County judge sentenced a Kansas City man to 23 years in prison for the 2023 fatal shooting in which the victim’s body was dumped from a car and left in the street, according to the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office.

KANSAS CITY—Law enforcement investigating another deadly shooting in Kansas City have identified the victim as 34-year-old Waleed M. Shaban, according to KCPD Officer Alayna Gonzalez. Just before 1p.m. Thursday, police were dispatched to a reported shooting in the the 300 block of E. Linwood Boulevard in Kansas City, according to Gonzalez.

Kansas City police are investigating a shooting that left one victim in critical condition Wednesday afternoon.

Police have not identified a person of interest in the shooting, and no arrests were made Wednesday night, according to Gonzalez. Wednesday’s shooting was the 135th homicide reported in Kansas City in 2024, according to data collected by The Star. At this time last year, 164 homicides had been reported in the city.

Officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 300 block of East Linwood Boulevard just before 1 p.m. When they arrived, people directed them to a nearby business, where officers found an adult male who had been shot and was unresponsive.
