Sunday's results failed to settle the National League wild-card race, so the New York Mets jumped on a plane to Atlanta for a doubleheader against the Atlanta Braves on Monday (1 p.m. ET on ESPN2). The Arizona Diamondbacks will be watching -- they need one of these teams to pull off a sweep in order to get into the playoffs themselves.

It's official, the Mets are playoff-bound. After a crazy final two innings, the New York Mets won the first game of Monday's doubleheader. The 8-7 triumph over the Atlanta Braves at Truist Park was nothing short of insane. The doubleheader was certainly played in the spirit of October baseball.

The final Sunday of the 2024 MLB regular season, it turns out, wasn't the end. Instead, the Braves and Mets will play a doubleheader Monday at Truist Park to determine the final two spots in the postseason bracket.
