Michigan State men's basketball has some work to do, but for the first game of the season, the team isn't far off from where it should be.

Michigan State basketball has already started their 2024-25 campaign better than last season. Last year, the Spartans dropped the opening night game against a scrappy James Madison team. This year, the Spartans were able to ward off a challenge from Monmouth to win 81 to 57 at home in the Breslin Center.
