A manhunt ended in Texas when a Houston man accused of shooting and killing a deputy serving a warrant on him in the parking lot of a Dollar Tree, was fatally shot by police.

An officer was hospitalized and police were searching for one person after a shooting Thursday morning in southwest Houston, officials said. Officials with the Houston Police Department provided limited details about the shooting on Twitter, saying preliminary information was that someone had shot an officer from another agency and fled on foot.

Houston police are responding to a fatal shooting involving a deputy from Brazoria County near the 610 South Loop.

A Blue Alert has been issued after law enforcement initiated a manhunt for a man they believe was involved in the death of a Brazoria County deputy

Houston Police say Robert Lee Davis III was shot and killed on Wednesday evening. Earlier in the day, police say Davis shot and killed a Brazoria County deputy who was attempting to serve a warrant.

A manhunt continues for the repeat violent offender who shot and killed a deputy serving a warrant Wednesday afternoon, Houston police say.

Brazoria County deputy Jesus Jesse Vargas was shot and killed in southwest Houston on Wednesday while attempting to serve a warrant to a suspect. Leaders including Houston Mayor John Whitmire, Houston Police Chief Noe Diaz and Brazoria County Sheriff Bo Stallman spoke about the shooting and the efforts to find the gunman.
