TAMPA — For many NHL players, the opportunity to play in an outdoor hockey game is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. And just seven members of this season’s Lightning team were among the group that played a Stadium Series game in Nashville three seasons ago.

Who would have thought you could play hockey outside in Florida? Next year, the Tampa Bay Lightning will hit the ice al fresco at Raymond James Stadium on Gasparilla weekend.

The Boston Bruins haven't been left out of outdoor games next season. The NHL and Gary Bettman have announced that the Boston Bruins will take on the Tampa Bay Lightning at Raymond James Stadium for the 2026 Stadium Series.

On February 26, 2022, the Tampa Bay Lightning played in their first outdoor game against the Nashville Predators at Nissan Stadium. They won 3-2, and helped draw a crowd of almost 69,000. But they’ve never hosted one.
