Alcaraz was stunned by Van de Zandschulp in the second round of the US Open last month, in one of the biggest upsets of the season.

Daniil Medvedev joked that he would take drastic measures to beat Carlos Alcaraz the next time they face each other following his latest defeat to the Spaniard. Medvedev was swept aside in straight sets in the last four of the China Open, with Alcaraz sailing through to the final.

World no. 3 Carlos Alcaraz will compete in his first Beijing Open final. The Spaniard faced last year's finalist Daniil Medvedev in the semi-final and notched a 7-5, 6-3 victory in an hour and 27 minutes, moving into his fifth ATP final of the season.
