Brazil's government said in a statement on Monday that Indonesia is formally joining BRICS as a full member, further expanding the group of major emerging economies that also includes Russia, India, China and South Africa.

Brazil on Monday announced that Indonesia had become a full member of BRICS, a bloc of developing economies increasingly seen as a counterweight to the West.

Indonesia has become the newest member of the BRICS group of developing nations, in a move that could further bolster the Global South as Donald Trump’s trade policies pose risks to world economy.
