The Nassau County shooting occurred around 11:45 p.m. on Oct. 30 in the area of Exit 17, westbound, on the Southern State Parkway in West Hempstead between Trooper Thomas Mascia and a suspect who fled the scene, as initially reported by state police on Oct. 31.
