An Italian official has called for France’s Louvre Museum to temporarily return the Mona Lisa as the museum faces concerns of disrepair.

The leaked memo said the Louvre suffered from “proliferation of damage in museum spaces, some of which are in very poor condition.”

The renovation announcement comes after concerns over water leaks and other damages were expressed by the museum’s director earlier this month.
