The much-hyped body horror The Substance won Best Screenplay at the Cannes Film Festival, collected a string of five-star reviews (including by our very own Tim Robey) and has tipped Demi Moore for an Oscar.

The Substance, starring Demi Moore, is a bright and showy body horror film about aging and the hypersexualization of the female body. But it doesn’t go much further than illustrating at great length that there are nasty cultural attitudes toward older women.

Body horror is particularly appealing to creators who would have previously found it difficult to make a living in the world of commercial film-making.

In one of the pics, Moore posed with Hawn and Melanie Griffith, and all three women were dressed in black: Moore in a long black gown with short sleeves, Griffith in a floor-length black dress with a high neck and black leather jacket and Hawn in black-and-white striped pants with a matching jacket and top.

Demi’s hair in the early days was so natural and really gave the girl-next-door look. The long, dark hair with wavy volume embodied the style of the time and was further complemented by her stark blue eyeshadow and perfectly rosy cheeks.
