The suspect in a deadly Christmas Eve shooting in Oxford Township has a history of gun crimes and was recently released from prison despite picking up another weapons conviction while behind bars, the Free Press has found.

A 29-year-old Flint man who allegedly gunned down a clinical psychologist who'd stopped to help him after he drove his car into a ditch near Oxford High School Christmas Eve was charged Saturday with the woman's murder and other alleged crimes and was ordered to be held in jail without bond, the Oakland County Sheriff's Office said.

After the shooting near Oxford High School, the suspect was quickly arrested. Sheriff Michael Bouchard called it "The worst nightmare on so many levels." The suspect, who used an illegal gun with an extended magazine and fired over thirty rounds, is expected to face "every possible charge," as stated by FOX 2 Detroit .

A 29-year-old man is facing 19 charges, including felony murder, in connection with the fatal shooting in Oxford on Christmas Eve. ​
