For many NHL players, the opportunity to play in an outdoor hockey game is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. And just seven members of this season’s Lightning team were among the group that played a Stadium Series game in Nashville three seasons ago.

Who would have thought you could play hockey outside in Florida? Next year, the Tampa Bay Lightning will hit the ice al fresco at Raymond James Stadium on Gasparilla weekend.

On February 26, 2022, the Tampa Bay Lightning played in their first outdoor game against the Nashville Predators at Nissan Stadium. They won 3-2, and helped draw a crowd of almost 69,000. But they’ve never hosted one.

The Tampa Bay Lightning announced today that they are scheduled to host the Boston Bruins at Raymond James Stadium on Feb. 1, 2026. This landmark event will be part of a month-long celebration of hockey in the state of Florida,

The Rangers are 5-0-0 in their previous outdoor games, Boston has won four of its five outdoor games and the Lightning prevailed in their only outdoor contest. The Panthers have never played such a game.

When the Boston Bruins visit Tampa Bay tomorrow night, it’ll be at the usual home of the Lightning, Amalie Arena. Next year, though, the two teams will meet on a much larger stage. As announced on Wednesday,
