After earning a hard-fought 1-0 victory in the Suriname capital of Paramaribo last Friday, Canada needed only a draw here to advance to the Nations League Finals, to be held at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles next March. But there was never any question that Jesse Marsch’s team would settle for a tie.

Holding a slim one-goal aggregate advantage, Canada returns home to face Suriname in the second leg of their CONCACAF Nations League quarterfinal matchup on Tuesday.

Canada booked their passage with a comfortable second-leg win against Suriname in Toronto. Two goals in seven minutes from Jonathan David and Jacob Shaffelburg respectively before the half-hour mark saw Jesse Marsch's side get off and running,
