On Monday, climate activist Sonam Wangchuk and 150 others were detained at the Delhi border while marching to the national capital to demand Sixth Schedule status for Ladakh. A representative of the group claimed that Wangchuk was taken to Bawana police station and was not being allowed to meet his lawyers.

A complete shutdown was observed in the Union Territory (UT) of Ladakh on Tuesday to protest against the detention of climate activist Sonam Wangchuk along with about 125 men and women who were peacefully marching towards New Delhi to draw attention of the Modi government towards their demands,

Sonam Wangchuk was on the 'Delhi Chalo Padyatra', which was organised by the Leh Apex Body (LAB) and Kargil Democratic Alliance (KDA) regarding their demands for the Sixth Schedule.
