LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A mountain lion was roaming in Bennet early Sunday morning. A camera picked it up in town as it walked through driveways around 1:45 a.m. Then, the cougar moved east, near 176th Street and Bennet Road. Shelby Schomerus said her dog wouldn’t stop barking, so she got up to check their trail camera.

The Lancaster County Sheriff's Office confirmed that a mountain lion was sighted in the Bennet area. Home surveillance and game cameras captured photos and video of the animal between 1 a.m. and 3 a.m. Sunday, authorities said. The mountain lion was moving east, away from Bennet, which is about 20 miles southeast of Lincoln.
