The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) is stabilizing the Nolichucky Dam and will remove the old powerhouse, according to a social media update. TVA reported it has machinery onsite that is placing large rocks to stabilize the area.

TVA said after 4 p.m. the Nolichucky Dam "is stable and secure." Safety experts did a thorough review, TVA said, and water levels continue to fall. "We are notifying local emergency management agencies that we are transitioning to an advanced monitoring mode of the dam and exiting the emergency condition," the TVA wrote on X.
